Don't Mess With Texas

Especially when she wears a crown!

The Texan that I'm talking about is Brittea. She is our princess. (Yes, we tend to be very possessive about her!) Matt and Chandra went to Arizona to a resort. This was a trip that Matt won through his company. They needed someone to come watch Brittea so that they could go and Kenny and I were the lucky winners.

Brittea is a trooper. She didn't complain one time unless she had bubbles in her tummy that we needed to get out. She laughs at me when I don't do things as smoothly as her Mom. Everything that Chandra does to care for Brittea she does with such expertise. I'm sure this has come through practice, and Brittea is entertained by my messing things up!

My back hurts and I'm tired. You would NEVER hear those same words from Chandra. Chandra lives her life in two-hour blocks between feedings and diaper changes, and her nights with very little sleep. Chandra has her house completely organized for Brittea. Kitchen cupboards that you and I would fill with appliances we use only once every 10 years, Chandra fills with all the supplies to mix Brittea's food each day. Bathroom cupboards that I would fill with clutter, Chandra fills with a month's supply of diapers. I know that as mothers we all do this for our children, but special kids like Brittea take so much more.

Texas is far away, but it has been good to Brittea. Her health is great. Her little arms and face are tan and she is very happy. Matt and Chandra have great neighbors. Brittea is in a great therapy program and is doing well. All of Brittea's teachers were so nice. Even though Texas is far from Utah and we miss them, it has been a good move for them.

Thanks Chandra for finally taking a vacation. Thanks Matt for working hard so that Chandra can stay home with Brittea and so that she could go on this vacation with you. Thanks Brittea for winning my heart and Kenny's heart over and over and over and over. Thanks for letting us be the lucky friends to spend these few days with you. We love you so much!

Husband Tag

Leslie tagged me and Bre a couple of weeks ago. I'm slow to get this done. Bre already did her husband tag, she tagged Aunt Kim, who in turn tagged Tricia. They've all finished before I even get started! Here it goes.....

1. What is his name? Kenneth R Jensen. I call him Kenny, KC calls him Dad, Bre calls him Daddy, and Logan calls him Pops. But don't call him Kenneth. When he was in the 4th grade, if kids called him Kenneth, he told them he would meet them by the flagpole after school to beat them up.

2. How long have we been together? This year we will celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary! Big milestone!

3. How old is he? He is 48. But he has a twin that is 4. How is this possible? The cutest little girl in our ward has the same birthday, Feb. 27. When Kenny found out they have the same birthday, he started calling her twin. Now he just says "Hi Twin" and she comes running and hugs his legs. Its adorable. (Twin is holding the puppy in the picture above.)

4. Who eats more? When we were first married, definitely him. I'd like to think he still does.

5. Who said I love you first? I don't remember, but probably him. He is more romantic than I am.

6. Who is taller? I am. Ha Ha Ha....in my dreams. He is. Everyone in my family is taller than me! I am reminded that he is taller when he puts things away because he puts them up high. I have to use a footstool a lot.

7. What is his favorite sport? At first I was going to say basketball, but is hunting a sport? I think his favorite sport would have to be something to do with pheasant hunting and the dogs. He loves it!

8. Who is smarter? Hmm, in anything that involves building or math, he is. If it involves computers or english, I am.

9. Who does the laundry? We both do. How does anyone keep up if it isn't a joint effort?

10. Who does the dishes? Same answer as above.

11. Who pays the bills? Mostly Kenny. I am responsible for one bill. Finances stress me out. Kenny tells me that in the next life we are going to be born rich instead of so darn good looking, then I won't have to worry about bills.

12. Who cooks dinner? We both do, but Kenny is definitely the better cook. He cooks YUMMY stuff. He likes to spend time looking for new recipes to try and makes amazing dinners. He loves to bbq and loves meat. One guy in our ward is a butcher, and Kenny is always asking him questions and trying new things. When I cook, it is something that can be thrown together in 30 minutes or less.

13. Who drives when we are together? For sure him! I get sleepy. Sorry Derek....it must be genetic. Bre and I both fall asleep the minute the car starts down the street. I am the navigator when I am awake.

14. Who is more stubborn? I think he is. I think he would agree about this.

15. Who has more siblings? He does. He has 4 brother and 2 sisters. I have 1 brother and 3 sisters.

16. Who wears the pants in the relationship? Kenny says that I do. He tells me that any husband that thinks otherwise is a liar.

17. Who kissed who first? Wow. That was a long time ago. He kissed me first.

18. Who proposed to who? He proposed to me but we talked about it quite a bit together. Then he asked my Dad, and then he was supposed to give me my ring for Christmas but he got really sick. I knew he wouldn't be able to get the ring so I just asked him to wrap up anything, I just wanted something to open on Christmas morning. When I opened my presents, he did exactly as I asked...wrapped up anything. There was a can of soup, an old shoe, a pair of ugly Hillcrest track shorts, and some dried up paint. He had made me a really cute stocking and it had a box of Cracker Jacks in it. I opened the Cracker Jacks and Kenny's Mom asked me if she could have the prize. I said sure, and took the prize out and tried to give it to her. She said, no you go ahead and have it. I opened the prize, and there was my ring! It was a lot of fun that I still think of it every Christmas.

Now I don't know who to tag.

What is going on?

The last couple of times that I posted something, for some reason it dumped it on March 22. I have no idea why. I posted new pictures of the puppies, but you will have to scroll down to see them. It seems that everytime I do a posting from our home computer, I have a problem. When I post from my laptop it goes OK. Since I have been so busy with school, I haven't had time to figure it out. When I have 30 seconds to post something, I want it to work!

I only have one class, and I have spent SOOOO much time doing homework. If I had more than this one class, I don't know what I would do. I'll be glad when this class is over. I'm not taking any classes in the summer. I will publicly state my goal...maybe that will make me stick to it. Once I get done with this class (in 5 days...who is counting) I am going to get back on the treadmill and elliptical. I think I have eaten my way through this class. Homework equals candy, right? So there it is. Now, I have to make sure I get exercising!

OLD

Logan is a pretty funny guy. He keeps us laughing all the time! It was my birthday this week, and he was in charge of putting the candles on the cake. He very carefully put the candles on, and then set the cake aside. I should have known that he was up to something because he was being so calm and quiet about it. When Kenny and Logan sang happy birthday, Logan brought the cake over, and you can see what the candles spelled!! 45 is not old!

Puppy Update

We were so excited early last Saturday afternoon when we counted 10 puppies. But I posted the blog too soon! Number 11 arrived just after I posted the first pictures, and then I have been so busy I haven't had time to update. We have 11 puppies, 7 girls and 4 boys. So far all are doing pretty well. The pics are of Bre and Logan with the puppies last weekend, and Kenny holding the biggest and the littlest pup.

PUPPIES!!!

The puppies are finally here! The first puppy arrived Friday night about 9:00 p.m. By 4:00 a.m., there were 6. By 6:00 a.m. there were 7. By Saturday morning at 11:00 a.m. we were still at 7 and were getting a little worried, but shortly after 11:00 a.m., number 8 arrived with a cute brown spot on her side. We were so excited and we thought we were done, but no. Akira still had a couple more in the oven. The last 2 arrived by 2:00 p.m. Akira is a cute mother and did a great job. All of the puppies seem to be doing fine, but we hope that she will be able to feed so many. We will have to watch to make sure they all thrive. We don't have a count yet on how many girls, and how many boys; I'll post that later.

Days are Too Short!

It seems like each days goes by so quickly and I haven't had any time to post something new. Not much to tell....just work and school. Thank goodness for Kenny. He has totally taken over everything in the house so that I can concentrate on school. Thank goodness this class will be over in one week and then I'm going to take the summer off. I have grand plans. We will see how much I accomplish. I just got back from Alabama for work. I've never been to Alabama before and didn't really see anything except a lot of trees! Oh well, another state to add to my list of states I've visited.

Puppy update...they are getting bigger and cuter. But bigger also means bigger messes to clean up. We've posted an ad on ksl.com, but haven't gotten any responses. I sure hope we can sell them. They are cute, but I don't want to keep 'em!
